Business students collaborate with women entrepreneurs in Manzanillo

Last March we hosted our first group of student volunteers from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, who joined us in Manzanillo for a week of service and learning alongside local business owners and a group of women entrepreneurs.

The Committee of Women Entrepreneurs of Manzanillo is a group of women residents from the community of Manzanillo, Limón, that since 2013 organized themselves with the goal of creating better economic and personal opportunities. They create crafts with recycled materials and other resources from the area, prepare local cuisine, and support local projects and cultural activities that strengthen the identity of the community.

In collaboration with The Rich Coast Project and Kelley Initiatives for Social Impact at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, members of the Comité and a group of international volunteers spent a full day - Wednesday, March 18, 2015 - dedicated to improving the physical space in which the women work in the community and the online space through which they share their vision and creativity with visitors from near and far.
